We have provided answers to some of the more common questions below, but if there's anything else you'd like us to answer or discuss please don't hesitate to email us at help@swagtags.co.uk.
How will I be notified that one of my belongings has been found?
We'll send you an SMS and an email as soon as we're informed of one of your possessions being found.
Can a family member or friend be notified too?
Yes, they can. All the notifications in the world are useless if you've lost your phone or it's out of battery, signal, or data.
You can add an Emergency Contact and we'll send them notifications at the same time as we notify you. If you're unreachable or can't get in touch, they can take over and handle everything for you.
What can I attach a SwagTag to?
'What can't you attach a SwagTag to?' is how we'd answer that.
The choice is really up to you; anything that you consider valuable (regardless of whether anyone else does) can likely be tagged with one of our stickers or key tags - from your keys to your teddy bear, and everything in-between.
Are your stickers waterproof?
Yes! Our stickers are made with an extra-strong adhesive plus a tough, laminated coating. The end result is a sticker like no other, one that is waterproof, scratch resistant and UV proof.
Stickers can be stuck to a wide range of materials, including metal and plastic, just ensure that the area is clean and dry before you application and leave for 24 hours before exposing to the elements.
Can my possessions be sent to me rather than having to collect them?
This would need to be something you arrange directly with the finder. They may be happy to visit a post office for you, or alternatively you could arrange for a courier to collect it for you.
How much does SwagTags cost?
Check out our pricing page but, spoiler alert, it's free! There are no subscriptions or hidden fees.
Our Keyrings and Stickers can be purchased via our Shop.
How long will it take my purchase to arrive?
We aim to ship all orders placed before 9pm by the next working day. We deliver using Royal Mail 1st Class so during busier periods (eg Christmas) there may be small delays.
Is my payment secure?
Absolutely! We use PayPal to take all payments so your card details are securely processed by them without us needing to see anything.
What happens if I lose my phone? How will I receive notifications?
Losing your phone can be quite daunting, especially as we are so tied to them for daily communication.
We’ve made it simple for you to access your SwagTags account from any device that has a web browser, which could be a laptop or tablet, friends phone, iPod, or even a smart fridge!
We also recommend everyone setup an emergency contact, such as a family member or close friend, which means you can still be informed of notifications, even if you can’t receive them directly.
I don’t lose things, why do I need SwagTags?
Lots of us take great care with our belongings, especially as many of our most valued items will have cost a significant amount of money.
Sadly, despite this, accidents happen, and the millions of items that are lost or stolen every day is a testament to that. These aren’t particularly newsworthy events, so it can feel like it doesn’t happen very often, but it very much does (the amount of property lost each year is rising - not falling!) and until it happens to you then it’s hard to imagine just how stressful and expensive it can be.
That's why we made a decision early on to make SwagTags subscription-free – so that if you are lucky enough to never use SwagTags, then you won’t be left out of pocket. If the time ever does come when one of your belongings goes walkabout, you know it has an easy way to find it's way home.
Why not just write my phone number on my belongings?
While certainly simple, there are many issues with simply writing your phone number on your belongings: you might change your number; you may miss phone calls; you are exposing private information; you may not have much room to write; to name a few.
SwagTags takes this simple concept and utilises the latest technologies and services to massively increase the chance that your belongings will be found and returned to you.
What about digital trackers?
There are a range of digital trackers on the market, many of which fall foul of the same problems.
The most obvious problem is that of battery-life and the need to recharge regularly, some as often as daily.
Further, many only use bluetooth technology to help communicate between a phone and the tracker, which can severely limit the range of these items from scarcely inside your own home (indoors), or about 50-100ft (outside). This makes them useful only if you have a good idea of the items location already, no use whatsoever if your bag has been left on a train and is now whizzing it's way across the country.
A handful of digital trackers overcome this problem by connecting to the mobile network, which can provide updates even if you are separated by a great distance. However, these often require the most frequent recharges (at least once a week), have a steep upfront cost (£20+ per tracker), and require a costly month subscription (starting from £3 per month, per tracker).
Lastly, there is often little in the way for others to help, either being solely tied to the owner or requiring special apps and devices to connect.
SwagTags is made to be easy-to-use, battery-free, waterproof, and accessible by absolutely anyone using virtually any device.
